I am a happy camper to the tune of Una Paloma Blanca! Our first foray into camping was to Plesant Rise Farm in Alfriston with a group of lovely friends and a borrowed tent. Great fun, lots of laughs and an ingenious wasp trap. We must have had a good time because despite the gale force wind, we ended up buying a tent of our own. She’s a thing of beauty alright and if Mr Osbourne keeps up, it’s just as well because we’ll be living in it soon!
After a mad dash to the post office, managed to get our Christmas parcel off in time. Had fun with the Mini O’Dramas, thinking of and buying all the things to put inside. As well as the usual obligatory Santa hat and streamers, we added sweets, balloons, moisturising cream, shaving oil, deoderant rock, puzzles and some other everyday toiletries, as we’d heard they were expensive to buy out there. Lastly, we included a note of thanks from us all and a picture from Little Miss O’D, and wrapped it all up inside and out with bows, ribbons and Christmassy paper. Will definately do this again.

Wooh-hooh! I’m a definate fan of the slow cooker. Stews and casseroles are us. Whole chicken in lemon and garlic has to be one of my favourites and what a delight to come back to after a winter walk in the snow! Still wearing my L plates but I pretty much know what I’m doing.

# 076 Take Master O’D to Tate Modern (COMPLETE)

What an adventure! Took Master O’D to see his first live Andy Warhol which he loved and went to see the Pop Life Exhibition The exhibition itself is a superb mix, of which Warhol is just a part, but also takes in Hirst, Emin, Haring and others. The building is awe-inspiring and the content just jaw-dropping. We spent two hours there and it is nowhere near enough to really see everything. Must go again.
Later, we went to see the Museum of Animation at County Hall – a hard to find attraction but most definately worth the effort. We were greeted like old friends by the curator and animator in residence and to see Master O’D with such wonder in his eyes was just amazing. It put me in mind of the first time I took him to see Father Christmas (which incidentally doesn’t always feel like that long ago!)
We moved on to Forbidden Planet whilst he took an hour to decide what gift to choose. Nice to know he’s not growing up too fast! A sprint to Covent Garden and a bag of chips on the way home rounded off the perfect mum/son day. I do seem to £100 down on the deal but so much richer in a soppy emotional way. Gotta love that boy.

Made a tentative start to this by registering on the site and requesting an address – bit daunted but nothing ventured. I love the idea of sending post that someone will actually be looking forward to receiving. Vay cool.

Among the sentences, witticisms and tributes it’s pretty humbling to read of how inspiring he clearly was to so many. It’s really made me think about the capacity we have for enabling the childhood dreams of others, but to limit the thinking to this is to miss the trick. His lecture was really about how you live your life in the round. I need to read this a few more times I think to get the most from it.

Not very inspiring but I did succumb to the charms of Mr Ainsley Harriot’s citrus cous cous on Tuesday. It’s a bit of a cheat really, but still it’s one off the list!
